Your application may still be approved without an IRB approval letter, but an approval letter will be required before any funds are given. If approval has not yet been given, you will need to provide a timeline for gaining the necessary approval. You will be required to submit the IRB approval letter with your application. A “letter of recommendation” is a statement of the applicant’s abilities and potential. Two (2) References who will be providing letters of recommendation. A statement of support from your research adviser ( Adviser), which is simply a statement to the fact that the adviser has agreed to work with you, if your application is approved. If you have received funding explain why you need further funding.ģ. If you have trouble finding books, please ask your professor or librarian for help.The Bishop Research Award in Neuroscience (BRAIN) supports mentored research projects for OWU Neuroscience majors. Use Interlibrary Loan (ILL) if you are unable to find a specific book in either of the library catalogs. When you do a Subject search, you will retrieve records for books where your terms appear just in the subject field. The subject field is used by library catalogers and uses a controlled vocabulary that may not be intuitive to a searcher. While a whole book may not deal with your topic, you may find books with chapters that discuss your topic. When you do a Keyword search, you will retrieve records for books where your terms appear in the title, notes, subject, and table of contents field. While you retrieve records from the catalog, pay attention to the words used to describe the topic in the subject field of the record. Add these terms to your search strategy to enhance your results. As you begin your search, use keywords to describe your topic. Gather these keywords from the background reading you did on your topic in reference dictionaries and encyclopedias. Use the CONSORT and OhioLINK library catalogs to find books on your topic.
